The Family Behind the Brand

When I sat down to write this, I never imagined I’d be embarking on something quite like this adventure. I have always known that I wanted to be a hands-on mum, fully present and spending quality time with my kids. What that would look like in reality, however, was something I was never entirely sure about. My original plan for maternity leave was to sell all the crafty things I had made over the years—a creative outlet that brought me joy and a sense of accomplishment. But as wonderful as that was, it still didn’t satisfy the deeper urge I had for something more meaningful and connected. Then, in 2024, when the unexpected opportunity arose to purchase Nomadic Camping Hire, I knew that “something” I was searching for had finally arrived.

Born and bred in Alice Springs, camping has always been an integral part of my life. It’s where I met my husband and built countless memories. Now, we’re passing down the joy and magic of camping to our kids, teaching them to appreciate nature and the simple pleasures of life outdoors. So, when the chance came to share that lifelong passion with others, it felt like the perfect fit for me. The flexibility this business offers means I can work while my children are at school, but still be available to spend time with them during school holidays and weekends. Being able to share the unique beauty of Central Australia with visitors—whether they’re here for the very first time or the twentieth—is something truly special and deeply rewarding.
